Start with cages that have very limited combinations, then compare those possibilities with the surrounding rows, columns and boxes.
Killer Sudoku adds arithmetic constraints on top of standard grid logic. You are not only placing digits correctly, but also making sure cage totals work.
Avoid solving cages in isolation. A cage total may look valid by itself, but the digits still need to fit the rest of the Sudoku grid.
Choose Expert Killer Sudoku when you are comfortable with the rule and want a tougher challenge.
Notes help you keep track of possible cage combinations before you know the exact digits. This is especially helpful when several cages interact with the same row, column or box.
